Rural infrastructure

The linkages between rural infrastructure development and sustained agricultural output growth have been documented by many global empirical studies. Improved (market)infrastructure contributes to efficient food marketing and can help raise farmer incomes, improve nutrition and enhance food security. Efficient transport and physical markets are one of the essential elements for an efficient marketing system. That is why rural infrastructure development matters also to smallholders.
