Agribusiness services
Agribusiness plays a vital role in economic development. In countries with low per capita incomes, the agricultural sector often accounts for half or more of the gross domestic product and 60-80 percent of total employment. Agribusiness services have the potential for broad development impact and an especially strong role in poverty reduction. Investments in physical infrastructure (ports, warehouses, dry and cold storage, telecommunications, etc.), of both private and public sector can facilitate trade and lower cost. To reach small farmers and rural enterprises, particularly in low-income countries, trading companies and financial intermediaries, help to channel financing and advisory services effectively.
