Land policies and land laws

Land governance is a key issue in rural development that has received more attention lately due to the land grabbing practices. Clear legal frameworks on land issues (land reform, land distribution, etc.) are needed to secure rights and access to land. However, poor performance of land governance institutions favour tenure insecurity which hampers peasant driven investment of land and land conservation.
