Agriculture and livestock development policies

Agricultural reforms to increase sustainable growth of agricultural production are urgently needed. The recognition of the role of smallholders to achieve food security, employment generation and sustainable ecosystem use has gained widespread international recognition recently. Yet, investment to support smallholders’ sustainable productivity increase remains marginal in most countries. Agricultural strategies and policies need to be developed in coordination with other sectors if development is to be achieved.
