Indigenous knowledge
Indigenous knowledge and expertise in agriculture, animal husbandry, agro forestry, natural resource and ecosystems management provide often very valuable and relevant insights, as well as efficient solutions to questions and challenges people are confronted with in their specific contexts. Having all too often been neglected by the formal systems of agricultural knowledge generation and transmission, appropriate indigenous knowledge and skills are now more widely recognized as a necessary element on the way towards sustainable farms, production systems and livelihoods. In this section you find documents on practical experiences, lessons learnt , methodologies and approaches, as well as on insights gained.
