SDC's ARD projects and programmes

The SDC ARD programme portfolio currently comprises about 114 projects and programmes with a gross annual budget of more than CHF 122 Mio. The list includes programmes that have activities related to the following five thematic clusters related to agriculture and rural development:

PRODUCTION	Includes all measures to increase and improve agricultural production and productivity
MARKET	Seeks to improve the access to markets and to business related services
SMNR	Sustainable Management of Natural Resources: includes all strategies that seek to promote sustainable use of and/or conserving natural resources (soil, water, forest, other flora, etc.)
R&E	Agricultural research, innovation and development, extension, education
POLICY	Support to improve conducive normative framework conditions at the global, regional and nationa level, includes also policy dialogue.

In most cases a single programme or project cannot be attributed to one or the other thematic cluster only. The majority of the programmes are multidisciplinary with several components (example project to support farmer organisations that includes a production line but also a policy support line). Yet in most cases, one thematic cluster predominates in the overall project objectives. In the following analysis, the projects have been labelled according to their predominant thematic cluster.
